The first annual Tammy Convention was held in Chicago, IL April 20-22, 2001. All the convention planning committee members donated their time and talents to make the weekend a big success. Chairperson Jan Montalbano was especially instrumental in pulling together the affair. Convention activities included a welcoming reception, workshops, a swap and sales meet, charity auctions, competitions, games, raffles, and a display of rare Tammy and family items. Convention goers had the opportunity to receive some unique Tammy Convention souvenirs during the weekend. Committee members Sally Seikel, Rebbecca Wingler, Laura Mitcham, and Dal Lowenbein all led different workshops for the group. Committee member Catherine Swope gave a surprise fashion show featuring life-size replicas of several of Tammy's outfits. Author Cindy Sabulis spoke to the group about her work on both the Collector's Guide to Tammy, the Ideal Teen and The Collector's Guide to Dolls of the 1960s and 1970s. On the last day of the convention attendees hopped a chartered bus to the Antique-Collectible Toy & Doll World Show at the Kane County Fairgrounds where many of them found some wonderful treasures to add to their collections. All attendees agreed it was a fantastic weekend!
